On Monday 28 July, five Starlight Children’s Foundation kids and their parents, expecting a normal BridgeClimb experience, were gifted an enchanting winter wonderland at the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, for a unique Christmas in July celebration.
The magical journey highlighted that any day can be special and saw the Summit of the Bridge transformed into a white winter wonderland, complete with a carpet of snow, giant snowflakes, a jolly snowman and Christmas carols.
The climax of the event was a surprise visit from Santa Claus, who keenly accepted the invitation to visit the Starlight kids whilst in town on a test-run ahead of his December peak period.
The five children were joined by BridgeClimb elves, who entertained the group with plenty of Christmas in July cheer, singing and merriment.
Friends of the families; Captain Sidepony and Captain Jazzy, led the fun and ensured the extraordinary climb group received the most from the experience as they took in the spectacular 360 degree views of Sydney Harbour on a beautiful winter’s day.
Starlight Children’s Foundation CEO Louise Baxter said, “We’ve enjoyed working with BridgeClimb for many years, making wishes come true for Starlight kids and their families, and today’s exciting and unique celebration is something they will always remember”.
After the Summit Christmas in July event, the children enjoyed the rest of their climb with commentary on the history of the Bridge from the BridgeClimb elves. They were gifted presents and bid farewell to Santa until later in the year.
BridgeClimb and Starlight have a proud history of working together to grant once-in-a-lifetime wishes to sick Aussie kids and their families, and showing that every day can be magical at BridgeClimb.
