Time of Day Tips: Choose the experience that's perfect for you

Every time you climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the experience is unique. Whether you choose dawn, day, twilight or night – you will experience 360 degrees of unforgettable on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

DAWN

Even if you aren’t an early riser, here’s a very good reason to set your alarm. Departing under a blanket of darkness, these Climbs depart before the city has even begun to stir. Before the first ripple, from the first Sydney ferry, has interrupted the harbour’s glassy surface.

As you reach the Summit, you’ll be in position to take in the dawning of the new day like you never have before.

Time of Day Facts:

    • Available Climb Types: Summit Climb
    • Departure Frequency: On the first Saturday of each month, and on some special occasions and during Peak Period. Ask our team to find out more.
    • Booking Lead Time: Month prior due to limited departures and the early start!

DAY

Imagine taking in the dazzling blues of the harbour, the iconic whites of the Sydney Opera House, and the lush greenery of the Domain as you ascend the steel grey arches of the Coathanger. It’s the classic view that has won hearts all around the world!

Sydney is full of surprises, and you never know what else you might get to experience when you climb the Bridge during the day. From the hum and buzz of Sydneysiders going about their day, to cruise ships passing below, or local birdlife stopping by to beat you to the summit – there’s plenty to experience climbing the Bridge during the day.

From a practical side of things, there is also more opportunity to jump on a Climb if you don’t have much time in Sydney, because there are loads more Climb departures during the ‘day’ compared to the other times!

  • Departure Frequency: 363 days of the year (there are no Climb departures on 30 and 31 December).
  • Booking Lead Time: If you have limited time in Sydney, we recommend booking in advance. If you are more flexible you can book a few days in advance, or even walk-in on the day and jump onto an available spot.

TWILIGHT

Here’s a time of day that needs no introduction – everyone loves a good sunset! They do come in all shades and sizes, and no matter the date, experiencing the day transition to night is a really special time to be 134m high above the harbour.

  • Available Climb Types: Summit Climb (daily)
  • Departure Frequency: 363 days of the year (no departures on 30 & 31 December).
  • Booking Lead Time: Climbing during twilight is quite popular. We recommend booking in advance. If you are more flexible you can book a few days in advance, or even walk-in on the day and jump onto an available spot.

NIGHT

After the sun has gone down and the stars come out, we are still climbing! Sydney really sparkles at night as the city illuminates after dark. Equipped with a headlamp (in addition to the rest of the gear required), your Climb Leader will guide you along the great steel arches as you experience the city of Sydney as it winds down for the day.
