Challenging Weather

BridgeClimb operates in all Sydney weather conditions, except electrical storms and extremely high wind. Challenging weather conditions add an extra sense of adventure and exhilaration.

It was raining the morning of our Climb and we were disappointed with the Sydney weather but when we started climbing, WOW! The water was a gorgeous greeny grey colour and we could see patches of rain coming in the distance. It was absolutely gorgeous and the wet weather gear was fantastic and very comfortable. In retrospect we were really pleased with the rainy Sydney weather as it gave the Climb a whole new perspective.

A Keogh ( Australia)

BridgeClimb is an outdoor adventure and the weather conditions make each Climb unique. Over one million Climbers have scaled the Bridge in challenging Sydney weather and 99% report a satisfying experience.

Wet Weather Gear

Australian weather is unpredictable, but Climber safety and comfort is our highest priority. During wet Sydney weather you are very well protected against the elements. We supply special protective clothing and safety equipment:

  • BridgeFleece: Made from comfortable ‘windshield’ fabric to trap heat near your body, this forms the insulating layer of your wet-weather gear.
  • WeatherShells (rain jackets): Made from highly waterproof material with a polyurethane coating, this forms the shell layer of your wet-weather gear.
  • BridgeGloves: Made of a special polyester fleece to repel water and retain warmth.
  • Headwear: Warm headgear to use in cold Sydney weather in conjunction with your WeatherShell hood.

All Climbers are issued with standard safety equipment to deal with all kinds of Sydney weather. A safety harness connects you to a static line on the Bridge for the entire trip along with a communications headset.

Weather Monitoring

A high quality weather monitoring system is installed at the summit of the Bridge to monitor Sydney weather, including temperature, humidity and wind speed and direction. This allows us to monitor conditions to the minute, ensuring the safety of all Climbers.

Postponed Climbs

We do postpone Climbs during extreme Australian weather such as electrical storms and exceptionally high wind, at our discretion. If your Climb is postponed we will offer an alternative departure date and time of your choice.
