Climb Sydney’s Icon with Your NRL Icon

The State of Origin is near, and for passionate NRL fans it’s the premier sporting event of the calendar year.

The Origin series marks the era of an ongoing battle between two passionate states, an annual best-of-three match series between two of sport’s greatest rivals, Queensland and New South Wales. If you love your footy, then our latest offering is an opportunity-of-a-lifetime for all footy fanatics.

On the eve of Game One of the 2016 Holden State of Origin,  together with the NRL, we are giving Climbers the opportunity to scale the Sydney Harbour Bridge with two Rugby League greats. The entire 3.5 hour Climb with NRL legends in tow, will provide you with the ultimate opportunity to ask all those must-know questions, and hear a few legendary stories along the journey to the top.

The first NRL great to be joining the Climb is a game legend, known as the first player to register 10,000 tackles since performance statistics were centralised. His defensive-genius and strong ability to out-run his opposition scored him Dally M second-rower of the year five times; representing New South Wales is none other than Nathan Hindmarsh*. Hindmarsh has represented his state 17 times and played 22 tests for his country, stamping his status as an Origin expert for all your burrowing game tips.

The second NRL great to join the Climb has played 15 seasons and is the first player to play a State of Origin game beyond his 36th birthday. As a forward, he is the first player to appear in a record-breaking 33 Origin games, and is also the first Australian forward to have played more than 45 test matches. If his durability on field is something to show, then climbing the Bridge should be a walk-in-the-park for Petero Civoniceva*, who is representing Queensland on the Climb.

There are two Climbs to choose from running exclusively on the 31st May. You can choose to climb during the Day with the hum-and-buzz of the city in full swing below, or at Night, where the city is alight with the colours of Vivid Sydney sparkling under a blanket of darkness. At both times of day, elect to climb with either the Queensland or New South Wales group.
