Artist in Residence – VIP Insider Photography Competition

Our inaugural Artist In Residence photography competition is designed to showcase the best photos of the Bridge and the spectacular Sydney Harbour. The competition is open to all VIP access photographers – and shots from the Pylon, the Bridge and from the ground all have a chance to win. 

Competition categories

LANDSCAPE  capturing the sights of Sydney Harbour as seen from the unique vantage point of the Pylon Gun Deck or the top of the Bridge. From sunrise to sunset there are so many amazing opportunities to capture all the action that makes up one of the world’s greatest harbour cities.  

LOOKING UP – focusing on the Sydney Harbour Bridge from the ground, we want to see your unique perspective of how this iconic landmark connects the two sides of the city in its prime position in the heart of Sydney.

ARCHITECTURE – focusing on the structure of the engineering masterpiece that is the Sydney Harbour Bridge. From its perfectly symmetrical arches, to the unique angles of the beams of steel, we want to see the scale and drama of this loved piece of Sydney’s history. This category can be shot from the Pylon only.

Prizes

MAJOR PRIZE – overnight stay including breakfast at the 5* Park Hyatt Sydney worth $1,000, $750 worth of printing and photo framing from Created for Life, a $2,000 FujiFilm camera and lens pack and a Double pass Day BridgeClimb experience valued at over $600.

RUNNER UP PRIZE – Double pass Day BridgeClimb experience valued at $616 and a framing package from Created for Life valued at $250.

The prominent judging panel includes, Journalist and photography enthusiast Ray Martin, Getty Images Australia Creative Director James D. Morgan and renowned landscape photographer Glenn Mckimmin.

Terms & Conditions

By entering the ‘BridgeClimb Artist in Residence – VIP Insider Photography Competition’, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions

1. STANDARD TERMS

1.1 Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry. Entry into the promotion is deemed acceptance of these conditions of entry

2. WHO CAN ENTER

2.1 Subject to clause 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4, entry is open to all people who meet the competition requirements, and who can organise their own transport to BridgeClimb Sydney.
2.2 Directors, management, employees and their immediate families of BridgeClimb Sydney and their associated agencies and companies are not eligible to enter. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether by natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or first cousin.

2.3 The competition is open to Australian residents only.  

2.4 The minimum age to enter this competition is 16 years. BridgeClimb classifies adult age as 16 years or older to complete any BridgeClimb experience.

3. HOW TO ENTER

3.1 The competition commences on 15 November 2020 at 05:00am (AEDST) and concludes on 17 January 2021 at 11:00pm (AEDST) (“the Competition Period”).

3.2 To enter, people must complete the following steps:

  • Participants must visit BridgeClimb during the Competition Period on their confirmed shoot date and capture images that promote Sydney and is aligned to the photography competition categories
  • Participants must then submit their entry/s via email to [email protected] along with the name of the category, their full name and contact number.

3.3 Participants can submit one to five photographs per category.
3.4 The Promoter, its agents, affiliates or representatives will not be liable for any late, lost or misdirected entries.

4. HOW TO WIN

4.1 This competition is a game of skill and will be judged based on creative merit, according to the participants ability to capture photography of Sydney Harbour and the Sydney Harbour Bridge in one of three categories - Landscape, Architecture and Looking Up.

4.2 The competition entries will be reviewed by a professional judging panel and the judging will take place at a date and time specified by the Promoter, in the week commencing 18 January 2021.

4.3 The winners must have entered the competition during the Competition Period and completed all steps in accordance with clauses 2 and 3.

4.4 The winners will be announced publicly through BridgeClimb’s website in the week commencing 18 January 2021.
4.5 Before the announcement, the winners will be notified directly by the Promoter by phone and email, in the first instance on the judging day in the week commencing 18 January 2021.

4.6 The Promoter’s decision in relation to any aspects of the competition is final and the Promoter will not enter into any correspondence regarding the result.
4.7 It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner may be required to sign a legal release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
4.8 Entries not completed in accordance with these terms and conditions will not be considered valid and will not be included in the judging. Indecipherable or incomplete entries will be deemed invalid.
4.9 The Promoter reserves the right to request the winner provide proof of identity and/or proof of entry validity (including phone bills) in order to claim the prize. Proof of identification and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter. In the event that the winner cannot provide suitable proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.
4.10 The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entry which, in the opinion of the Promoter, includes objectionable content, profanity, potentially insulting, inflammatory or defamatory statements, disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process, who submits and entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions of entry, or who has, in the opinion of the Promoter, engaged in conduct in entering the promotion which is fraudulent, misleading, deceptive or generally damaging to the goodwill or reputation of the promotion and/or Promoter. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify a winner if the Promoter becomes aware that the winner and/or the winner’s entry is of a type described in this clause.

4.11 The Promoter reserves the rights to display images entered into the competition on BridgeClimb’s social media platforms,  website and at the BridgeClimb base.

5. PRIZE

5.1 The prize includes one Major Prize and one runner up including the following:

  • Major Prize – BridgeClimb VIP Insider - Photographer Access Award - includes an overnight stay at the 5* Park Hyatt Sydney including breakfast valued at $1,000, photo framing package from Created for Life valued at $750, a FujiFilm camera and lens pack valued at $2,000, and a Double Pass Day BridgeClimb experience valued at $616 – with the total prize pack value of over $4,300.  
  •  Runner up prize – includes a Double Pass Day BridgeClimb experience valued at $616 and a framing package from Created for Life valued at $250

5.2 The prize cannot be varied or extended. The prize does not include any component of travel. The winner will be solely responsible (at the winner’s sole expense) for any travel costs necessary for the winner to redeem the prize.
5.3 The prize cannot be transferred, exchanged or redeemed for cash. In the event that the winner does not take the prize at the time stipulated, then the prize will be forfeited by the winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu of the prize. The prize must be taken as offered and cannot be varied. Any unused portion of the prize is not-transferable, non-refundable and non-redeemable for other goods or services and cannot be taken as cash.
5.4 In participating in the prize, the winner agrees to participate and co-operate as required in all editorial activities relating to the promotion, including but not limited to being interviewed and photographed. The winner grants the Promoter a perpetual and non-exclusive licence to use any footage and photographs in all media worldwide and the winner (and their guest) will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
5.5 The winner agrees that they will not sell or otherwise provide their story and/or photographs to any media or other organisation.
5.6 The winner must, on request by the Promoter, be able to provide evidence which, to the reasonable satisfaction of the Promoter, demonstrates that the winner is an eligible entrant (as per clauses 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4) and has complied with these terms and conditions.
5.7 The winner consents to the Promoter and or its agents using the entrant’s name, likeness, voice and image if they win (including photographs, film and or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this competition (including any outcome).

6. NO LIABILITY

6.1 The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with any prize/s except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. Neither is the Promoter responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, either caused by the entrant or any of the equipment or programming associated with, or utilised in this competition, or for any technical error, or combination thereof that may occur in the course of the administration of this competition, including any omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line or telephone, mobile or satellite failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries.
6.2 If for any reason, this competition is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition subject to any written directions given under State Legislation.
6.3 Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, the Promoter (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence) for any personal injury, loss or damage (including loss or opportunity) whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the promotion, including but not limited to, where arising out of the following:
a) any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control);
b) any theft, unauthorised access or third party interference;
c) any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether or not after receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter;
d) any variation in prize value to that stated in these conditions of entry;
e) any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant;
f) the broadcast of any program relating to the competition or the publication of any material, including statements made by any compere, staff member, journalist, other entrants or any other person; and/or
g) participation in the prize.

6.4 The Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the promotion. The Promoter’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.

7. PROMOTER’S DETAILS

8. BRIDGECLIMB SYDNEY’S TERMS AND CONDITIONS

8.1 To participate in a Climb, the winner (“Climber/s”) must meet BridgeClimb Sydney’s standard health and safety conditions, available at https://www.bridgeclimb.com/plan-your-visit/pre-climb-checklist. Climbers will need to take into account any medical conditions they may have that may impact on their ability to climb vertical ladders and steep slopes safely.

8.2 Climbers must be at least 8 years of age and physically fit. An 8 to 15 year-old Climber must be accompanied by an adult Climber.

8.3 The Climb experience is moderately exerting, highly exhilarating and potentially exposes participants to all weather conditions.

8.4 All Climbers will be breath tested and must register a blood alcohol content reading of less than 0.05%. Climbers who fail this test will not be permitted to Climb.
